Directions:
By car: From
the North or the South, take the SS1 highway, exit at Cecina (not
Cecina Nord).
If coming from the north, at the end of the exit ramp, turn right,
direction "Volterra".
You'll come very quickly to a roundabout; go straight through it and
under the overpass.
If coming from the south, at the end of the exit ramp turn left,
direction "Volterra (this is after the overpass, so you will not go
through the first roundabout). The speed limit on this highway is
90 km/hr, and there is a camera that will take a very expensive
photo of you if you exceed the limit by even 1 km/hr. Continue 3.3
km to a second roundabout. Take the road to "Montescudaio" (the
first one), go 3.4 km and watch on the left for the signs "Fattoria San Giovanni" and "Fattoria La Prugnola". Turn
left onto the narrow asphalt road, go down the row of olive trees
and make the first left turn. Go down the hill through the forest
and take the first road to the left; there is a sign on the tree for
"Podere Santa Chiara". Follow the gravel road down the hill and
around the sharp curve to the right to our gate; it's the first
house you'll see.
By train from
any direction: Descend at the Cecina station. We can arrange a
taxi to Dolce Toscana for about 18 Euros. There is also a Europcar
office in Cecina if you wish to rent a car during your stay with
us. While a car is not absolutely necessary (thre is regular bus
service from a stop which is about a 10-minute walk from our inn),
renting a car will allow you to visit many more of the wonderful
villages, museums, beaches and
other activities that our region offers. If you're coming from
Florence, you will need to change trains in either Pisa or Livorno;
the trip takes about 2 hours. Trains from Rome take about 2-1//2
hours.
